An E-RYT 500 and 20 year veteran in the wellness field, Lateefah Fleming is the President and Chief Motivating Officer of empowerFit Wellness, LLC and owner of empowerfit & Flow, an RYS 200 registered yoga school. empowerFit is dedicated to empowering women, especially black women and women of color, to find their voice - and use their voice to embolden themselves and their communities. She has a passion for building communities locally and globally by combining the grounding and strength of yoga with the freedom and movement of dance and the exposure of various cultures.
Lateefah inspires women to have healthy relationships with their bodies while fostering a deeper love of themselves. Using doula services, classes, workshops, special programs, coaching, and wellness retreats, she seeks to build community and amplify voices on both a domestic and international scale.
With a keen awareness of the lack of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the fitness area, Lateefah is a fierce advocate and uses her platform to do more than get people fit. Appreciating the importance of seeing black women in leadership roles, Lateefah frequently offers yoga, fitness and wellness workshops, lectures and other classes in a variety of locations throughout the community.
Never being one for sitting idle, Lateefah is busy on many fronts. She is a former Ambassador for Lululemon, one of the world's leading fitness brands, where she partners with them on a variety of wellness challenges, community initiatives, and fundraisers.
For 10 years, she produced and performed in the Global Dance Party, a dance show featuring artists from the entire NYC area representing dance forms from all over the globe. Every sold - out show was a culturally diverse platform for women of all ethnicities, shapes and talents that took place at the former Mexicali Live in Teaneck, NJ.
Her weekly IG Live show, Motivating the Motivator, is dedicated to amplifying and uplifting the voices and power of black women and women of color.
Lateefah leads domestic and international yoga retreats of connection and power. These retreats have so far exposed black women to the culture, dance, beauty and cuisine of places such as Morocco, Belize, The Maldives, Egypt, Cuba, Panama, The Catskills, France , Costa Rica and Bermuda.
She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, the author of “Everyone Can do Yoga: 30 Days of Information and Instruction on an Ancient Practice That Works Wonders in Our Modern World”, and is on InStyle/Yahoo’s Top 10 Powerful Women of 2021.
